This Week In Food
I don’t know if this is a way to give people relief from inflation or it is a cool marketing gimmick, but Domino’s is discounting their pizzas by 50% for online orders only this week through August 21st. This is not a scientific but it’s definitely anecdotal. A server gets more tips when she wears pigtails.
I don’t remember exactly when I met Alejandra Ramos, but it was at a food blogger event over ten years ago. She is now the host of The Great American Recipe on PBS. People en Espanol interviews Alejandra. Update: The Great American Recipe has been renewed for season two.
Two New Books
It’s book pub day for Chef Keith Corbin. His memoir, California Soul: An American Epic of Cooking and Survival, is out today. Read about his memoir where he talks about growing up in Watts.
Michael Twitty’s book, Kosher Soul is out now. I have seen Michael speak and bought his spices, so I can’t wait to read his book. This book examines the intersection of African and Jewish diaspora cuisine and identity.
Hunting For Rare Fruit Online
Some of you may know about rare fruits like yuzu. Locally, I get to eat muscadines which are in season right now. Cathy Erway writes about the hunt for rare fruit online.
This Week’s Poll
Last week, I asked about air fryers. There were five responses. There were two yes’s, two no’s and one just right. Air fryers are the “Goldilocks” of kitchen appliances.
Note: If you have any problems doing the poll, just leave a comment or send me an email.
