Last Monday, I took a quick trip to New York City to see The Piano Lesson. I had lunch at Balthazar with friends, and we enjoyed a luxurious and delicious lunch that included escargot and duck confit hash and eggs. No James Corden, but I spotted Meryl Streep’s son-in-law, Mark Ronson. UPDATE: James Corden apologized and is unbanned from Balthazar.
I also had dinner at the venerable Chez Josephine which is located in the theater district I chose the prix-fixe dinner option because of dessert, a maple baked apple with butter pecan ice cream. French restaurants are famous for doing prix-fixe dinners. Prix fixe is the French term for “fixed price” and it is often three courses, appetizer, entree and dessert. After dinner, we sprinted to the Ethel Barrymore theatre to see The Piano Lesson which is a revival of an August Wilson play starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Brooks. The play is amazing!
Make A Movie About Thomas Downing
Thomas Downing was the Black oyster king of New York and he is considered to be a pioneer of fine dining. I would love to see a movie or tv show about him.
