There are three R’s to managing waste: reduce, reuse, recycle. People tend to focus too much on the recycle, but we should try to reduce and reuse. Yogurt containers are rarely recycled, so it is better to reuse or reduce.

I think I first met Anya Kamenetz after a panel I was on at SXSW, but I had already known of her writing. She has written about debt and online education before becoming an education reporter for NPR. Her latest book, The Stolen Year, is about the pandemic’s deleterious effect to the education and health of children.
