I highly recommend having a picnic with friends on Monday. The park is less crowded and more chill.
Food News
Magnolia Bakery, which reached pop culture status because of their cupcakes being featured on Sex and The City and SNL’s “Lazy Sunday”, has dipped their toes into the cookie pool. They are making banana pudding cookies. Stick to eating chicken thighs, especially right now since 550,000 pounds of chicken breasts have been recalled. I will not be drinking Dirty Shirleys this summer. Deflowering a classic virgin cocktail like the Shirley Temple is dumb. All hail the lime rickey.
OMG
I work in a restaurant and we use a commercial sized squeegee to clean at the end of the day. Coincidentally, I spotted this article on The Kitchn recommending use of a small squeegee to clean kitchen countertops and more. It’s only $17.99.
Stop Boiling Your Corn
Once I started eating corn roasted on a grill, I could never go back. Not only does roasted corn taste better than boiled corn, it is healthier. When corn is boiled, it loses some of its folic acid and other nutrients, which seep into the water instead of serving as helpful vitamins.
Pre-order Nicole Taylor’s Juneteenth book and it will ship on May 31st.
Hummus, Among Us
In Upstate New York, there are farmers growing climate-friendly chickpeas.
How To Store Lemons
Keeping your lemons in a bowl on the counter is cute, but if you want to keep them longer, store lemons in the fridge.
$100M Vegan
I am still waiting for Slutty Vegan to come to Savannah, but I am really happy to read that Pinky Cole’s Slutty Vegan has raised $25M Series A funding. I visited one of Slutty Vegan’s Atlanta locations last summer and their marketing game is tight. The burger is good, too.
Have a delicious week,
Nichelle
