Whip It Good
Last Thursday, I went to a beer dinner celebrating 10 years of Cherry Street Brewing. Cherry Street is a brewpub/craft brewery with two locations in north Georgia and one brewpub in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The food was prepared by Chefs Matthew and Tia Raiford of Brunswick, GA. I especially enjoyed the whipped feta, and I found this whipped feta recipe on Serious Eats.
Ice Cream Castles In The Summertime
My friend Heidi and I used to do “Ice Cream Fridays” and make ice cream using her Cuisinart. We once made an horchata ice cream and it was delicious. Given the ice cream inflation, you may plan on making your own ice cream this summer. Check out these ice cream recipes from The Takeout.
Perfectly Good Food
Saturday, I was lucky to get an advanced copy of Margaret and Irene Li’s book, Perfectly Good Food and hear the sisters speak. Their cookbook is a helpful guide to achieve zero food waste while cooking at home. You can pre-order the book now. The pub date is June 20th. I included this book in my curated Bookshop list of cookbooks.
The Best Way to Soften Butter
Don’t nuke your butter in the microwave. The best way is to leave it out on the counter. BTW, if you are watching “Somebody Somewhere” like I am, then you have to add this Joan Armatrading song, “Show Some Emotion”, to your Spotify queue.
Cedric Smith’s Horsepower
My mom doesn’t know that the print I bought for her (pictured above) is by Cedric Smith whose work has been shown all over the world. Lisa France traveled to the middle of Georgia to talk to Cedric Smith for The Bitter Southerner about his recent work, Horsepower, which illustrates Black jockeys.
