It’s the first day of fall and Rosh Hashanah. A year ago, my Dad was in the hospital waiting for a new heart. Yesterday, he asked me for advice on how to pickle the peppers in his garden. I am trying put this all in perspective.

Last week, I mentioned that I wanted Gladys Knight’s banana pudding recipe. Now I will share with you Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding recipe (via Eater.com). The recipe calls for instant vanilla pudding mix, but I like to make my own vanilla pudding from scratch. Another thing to make it fancier is to drizzle either butterscotch syrup or dark chocolate syrup on top. Yum!

Rice washing has been debated and discussed across the internet for years. Nik Sharma has written about it, and now I know so much about starch. Speaking of rice, did you know that Budweiser beer is made with rice? This is one of the things I learned while I am studying to be a Certified Beer Server.
