Juneteenth
Juneteenth is this Saturday. All over the country, there will be people celebrating the holiday with families, friends and neighbors. There’s no one perfect Juneteenth explainer, but check out this post from the National Museum of African American Art.
Peaches
Real Simple has a delicious recipe for nectarine and burrata salad. You can also make it with peaches and gorgonzola.
Smooth Operator
Apparently hard seltzer, hard root beer, hard kombucha are just the beginning. Now there are hard smoothies. When will the madness end?!
Half hard seltzer, half fruit pureé, the hard smoothie seltzer is every bit the sensation as the two trends that merged to create it.
Quick
Quick pickling is one of my favorite ways to extend the life of produce. I have quick pickled strawberries and ate them with barbecue pork. America’s Test Kitchen has coined the term “quickling” to define quick pickling and they are sharing their technique.
Jump So High
I highly recommend watching the Netflix docuseries, High on The Hog. I think it is a very important piece of work. It has the ability to show the world the significance of African American culinary history. Read this interview of Stephen Satterfield.
Have a delicious week,
Nichelle
P.S.
Hit the heart button for me. Thank you!
