Numerology and Memory
I do long division at work. I don’t do it because I have to. Mind you, I am doing it to kill time and to stave off dementia. A few months ago, the job started a new policy where everyone must put up their phones into “phone jail” during the work shift. So whenever I’m not busy, and I have paper and pen handy, I do long division to figure out the percentage of how much I have worked. It is an elaborate exercise in clock-watching. Some people doodle. I do math.
I know it’s silly, but I haven’t regularly done long division in so long that it is actually a fun challenge. I remember fractions, lowest common denominator and decimal points. This is my chance to shine.
27 is my lucky number. It’s the day of my birthday. I’m a Sagittarius. I’m a Southerner. I am Gen X. I am the eldest of three girls. All of the things contribute to my personality.
I woke up this morning realizing that I moved to New York in 1999 and that was 27 years ago. I lived there for 13 years and now I live in Savannah. I never went to a New York Knicks game. The closest I ever got to the New York Knicks was when I did apply for an accounting job at Madison Square Garden. I didn’t get the job. (Another blunder from Jim Dolan). Once I went to a Brooklyn Nets game but that mainly to see the Barclays Center. I remember watching the Barclays Center taking forever to be constructed. My friends and I used to joke that Barclays was the house that Jay-Z. The irony is that Jay-Z is doing shows at Yankee Stadium this summer.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé favorite number is four because they were both born on the 4th of the month, December and September respectively.
I write all this to say “Knicks in Four”.
